Visual Content Creation Tools 2018

Visual media was the king of social media in 2017, and it shows no signs of slowing in the new year. Luckily, with this growth comes an influx of web tools that makes creating visual media for social media quick, easy, and cheap. Nowadays, you can make everything from illustrations to infographics without buying Photoshop.

In this article, we’ll show you five visual media content creation tools for 2018. Use these apps to make stunning visual content for your following, and give your brand more engagement and, in turn, more sales.

1. Canva – Quick and Easy Illustrations

Canva has long been one of our favorite visual media creation tools. The application gives you the ability to create everything from banners to event invitations by dragging and dropping design elements onto the canvas.

When you’re finished crafting your masterpiece, use Canva’s built-in sharing button to send it out to Facebook and Twitter.

Canva is free to use with paid options.

2. Pablo – Add Text to Your Photos in Seconds

Pablo is a barebones image editing tool for social media. Just upload an image, add some text, and apply an Instagram-esque filter. Then, your image is ready to share with the built-in Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest sharing tools. The app will even resize your images accordingly.

Don’t have an image? No worries: Pablo has 600,000 built-in royalty free images that you can share without attribution.

Pablo is free to use.

3. Placeit – Instant App Mockups

Launching a new app or website? Use Placeit to make promotional images. This web app lets you place screenshots into a number of devices without owning the device or taking a photo of your own.

Placeit sizes your screenshots too, so each image looks natural and pixel-perfect.

Each mockup costs $8 and there are a wide variety of devices and screen sizes to choose from.

4. PowToon – Create an Engaging Video in Minutes

PowToon provides an easy way to make animated videos for social media. Just pick a theme, add your text, and record a voiceover. Then, you can share your video to YouTube and other social networks. If you need to make videos in a pinch, use one of PowToon’s built-in themes to make a quick promotional video.

PowToon’s app is aimed at making professional videos, so won’t find text-to-speech talking heads or text bubbles. Additionally, PowToon’s videos aren’t limited to social media, so you can use the service to replace PowerPoint presentations or even make engaging staff training videos.

PowToon has a feature-limited free plan and a number of agency-focused paid plans. Check out their pricing page and find which plan best suits your team.

5. Foter – Images for Bloggers

Finding images to post on social media can be a pain: using a copyrighted photo without proper consent can land you in legal trouble. Even worse, using stock photo websites like iStock Adobe Stock can rack up huge content bills if you need new images for daily blog and social media posts.

Luckily, Foter is here to change this.

Foter is a Creative Commons search engine with access to over 300 million royalty-free stock photos. All of the images on Foter are licensed under the Creative Commons license, meaning you can use them on social media for free. Just be sure to check if the author requires attribution and allows commercial use.

Be sure to check out Foter’s WordPress plugin too. It integrates with the standard post editor, so you can add royalty free images to your blog posts without opening another browser window. Even cooler, the Foter plugin automatically attributes photos for you.
